D-Squeezy's Birthday Numero DOS!!!

It was actually two weeks ago....but I'm ALMOST caught up on the blog.
Welcome to Dax's birthday photo hodge podge!

When we began singing "Happy Birthday" to him, he looked around the room, noticed everyone was watching him, and immediately slapped his hands over his eyes until we finished singing.
He can't see us, we can't see him, right?

He WOULD NOT put the sippy cup down.
Of course....it WAS full of Grandma's specialty:  Chocolate Milk!
He held it and tried to drink while he opened gifts from his grandparents:
Buzz bedsheets, Buzz blanket, Buzz backpack....you get the drift.
It was a "Buzz Day" for sure!

Our "big" gift to Dax was THE Buzz Lightyear.
Quite possibly, it was the most excited I've ever seen him.
He ran around the room showing it to anyone who would listen
(grandparents were especially good for this)
and pushing button after button after button.
Over. And over. And over. And over again.
Yeah....we knew it would be that way....but his reaction was totally worth it.
Also, Buzz's buttons no longer work.
And we're ok with that!

On his actual birthday (the party was a few days before), we opened the rest of his gifts.
Turns out we were right when we figured he wouldn't care about anything except Buzz.

These particular puzzles are a current favorite toy.  He likes to take each wooden puzzle piece and yell,
"Mommy, watch!"
...and proceed to forcefully throw said wooden piece to the ground and watch it bounce.
Gotta love him.
If only he would put them back when he was done.  We're working on that.....

Aside from the Block Puzzle Book below, he also received a new addition to his My First Book of Mormon Stories collection.  We love those!!

And, just because he's so stinkin' cute.....a few more of the little 2-year-old.
Whom, I might add, is currently acting like the stereotypical 2-year-old.
Awesome.

It's a good thing we know how cute he is normally!!

Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Park and Bear Park

A few weeks ago...actually, a MONTH!  Holy smokes.  It's really been a month.  Wow!
Anyway, my baby sis and her hubby and kiddos came to visit from their new home in Connecticut.  We played lots, and did some fun things together.  It was so great to see them all, and we miss them tons!  Here's some photos of the day we had with my mom and sisters at the Dino Park in Ogden.

I LOVED the view I had as I pushed my little son around.

Seriously.  Could he BE any cuter????

All the kiddos:  Keagan, Rylee and Tessa, Bryton, and Daxson.

Keagan decided he wanted to push Dax around.    The fact that he and Dax were borrowing Tyler's matching coat/jacket didn't help the fact that they look like twinners!

What a handsome little guy!

When I finally let Dax out of the stroller, all he wanted to do was push it around.  Never mind that his view was highly obstructed by the actual stroller itself.  He didn't seem to mind that I had to....shall we say....redirect him from time to time to keep him from falling into the creek or running into a random passer-by.

We played at the playground for a while.  Dax was LOVING the slide.  What a silly boy!

He actually held still for a second.  I couldn't believe it.
I love/hate how grown-up he looks in this shot!

My beautiful big sis, Talya, and her darling daughter, Rylee!

He liked to tell me all about the dinosaurs.

Later that night, we got some Cafe Rio and met Clay, Jen, and Millie, and Erica, Chuck, Keagan, and Bryton at Bear Park.  Talk about a blast from my past!  That park brought a whole flood of memories from elementary/junior/high school all rushing back in.  So fun!

Dax latched right on to his Aunt Jenny and took her all over.
He LOVED spending time with his aunts/uncles/cousins all day long.

Dax would start down the slide on his little bum, and immediately flip to his belly.
It was funny to watch his expression.

We had a great time, and can't wait until the Lindbergs come back to visit!

The Big Bash

You may look at this egg, and think, "um...it's an Easter Egg.  So what?"
Let me tell you "so what".
This egg, MY egg, won the Annual Hansen Easter Egg Bashing Competition.
Just in case you were wondering why that may be important....let's put this into perspective.
This is the equivalent of Utah State Basketball winning the NCAA championships.
Seriously.

If you were to fill out your March Madness Brackets, and place USU past the first round (let alone winning the championships), most people (myself included) would laugh you out of the room.  Let's be honest, they should just be happy they got to the big dance at all, right?
So it was with me.  In the myriad of years my family has been doing this competition, I had yet to win a singular round.

But this year, I won.

I like egg bashing now.  :)

Here's some more Easter pics:

Sweet little Millie

Liza and Daddy

This picture below has absolutely nothing to do with Easter.  But I came upon it on my quest to upload Easter pictures, and it made me laugh.  My husband is kind of a dork.  :)

A rare moment when he voluntarily puts a car down.
He carried it around for the ENTIRE Easter Egg Hunt.

Running to the eggs.
He didn't really want to pick them up, but he really liked to point at them!

Please notice the car.  Still in his hand.

I LOVE this picture of Lauren.

D-Squeezy's Birthday!

Our baby boy turned ONE on September 1st. Hard to believe that it has now officially been over a year since I was pregnant. Hooray for that!

Anyway, the spoiled little man got a total of three birthday parties: one with my parents and siblings the last weekend up in Salt Lake, the second with my parents a couple weekends ago, and the last on his actual birthday.

Squishy Moo received some pretty fun gifts! His Aunt Jen and Uncle Clay got him a play phone that definitely kept him occupied during the long ride home (thank heavens for that!). PaMa and PaPa got him a frog-puppet that goes with a new book "Frog in the Kitchen Sink" and a car/walker to hopefully encourage the man to walk! Grandma and Grandpa Allred got him a fun new sport set that has baseball, basketball, and football all in one. Mommy and Daddy gave him a soft teddy bear, some fun new Tonka trucks, and a tool set! Oh, he loves that hammer! The kid will never have a shortage of things to play with.

We LOVE our little man!

What We've Been Up To:

We had a family dinner the weekend Robbie and I cleaned out our home in Centerville for the last time (it's still up for rent....let us know if you know anyone!). The grandparents decided to group everyone together for a grandkid picture, and here are the results: We especially like the exchange between sweet Mills and Dax. HA!
Audrey, Eric, Tessa, PaPa, Dax, PaMa, Millie, Bryton, Shae, Tyler, Keagan, Eliza, and Rylee makes ELEVEN!
Dax loved to play in the sand at Sand Dune Arch in Arches. He showed PaMa and PaPa what tractors do!

Sometimes "daddy" likes to spin his little man around like he's throwing a discus. This is what Dax's face looks like at the end of the spin.
My dad and mom, me, Dax, and Robbie at Balanced Rock in Arches. This is where we sat to eat our subs.
He kills me.
Riding on PaPa's back to find the dinosaur tracks.
PaPa watching Dax play with his new toys (more to come on that later).
Ok, so I'm a bad mom. The other day, I was working on the house, and Dax climbed underneath me as I stepped, and I stepped right on his little finger with the heel of my shoe. I felt like such a bad mom! Luckily he's healing just fine, and a bottle of chocolate milk, a bit of snuggle time, and a bandaid later, and he was off to play again!
The pinched finger. It's quite the blood blister!
So sad.
PaMa and PaPa gave Dax this fun little frog puppet with googley eyes. He has a fun tongue that sticks way out. Our sweet, teething son thought it would be just the thing to soothe his poor gums. We didn't have the heart to stop him from making out with the frog.
Again. He. Kills. Me.

more to come....our house is almost done, and I'll post some pics!
