Festivus
Christmas Eve was spent at my parents' house as usual. We really enjoyed this year's rendition of the Nativity, as it was presented entirely by children ten and under. Dax starred as the cutest baby Jesus we have ever seen. Tyler played Joseph, and didn't want to let the little man go. He was so cute with him. In the picture below, Tyler is on my lap, and Dax is in Tyler's.
Christmas morning, we woke up and had breakfast/opened gifts with my parents. This is Dax's first game of catch with his Daddy. He was much more interested in eating the ball then throwing it back. ...eh. It'll come.
My parents gave Dax a stuffed hippo, and he loved it! He snuggled, and snuggled, and burrowed his face in it...
It was a lot of fun to see them. We love you, mom and dad!
This Christmas Day, we spent most of it with Robbie's Family. Robbie's aunt Ann was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and has been undergoing chemo treatments for a few months now. As our family's service project this year, we (moreso others) got together and made a handprint quilt with all of Robbie's family for Ann to have. Dax's handprint turned out slightly more like a small hoofprint, but it was the best we could do when we tried to open his hand against his will. Either way, the quilt turned out really neat, and as you can tell from the picture below, quite emotional for all of us (and adorably, including Robbie).
Dax loved the gifts he got for Christmas. He is just now showing an interest in toys and such, and it is so much fun! He will burrow his face into the stuffed animals and giggle. It's freaking hilarious. Robbie's mom crochets frogs for all the grandkids: this is Dax's Kermie. After getting a good look at it, Dax decided he really loved it.
This one is called a Zoobie Pet: it's a stuffed animal, pillow, and a blanket all in one. It's awe-some. As you can see by the pictures, Dax adores his Zoobie.

One of his other favorite things is his new playmat. We had been borrowing one from my sister, and he didn't seem to have much interest in it. His attention span never lasted more than five minutes, but with this one, it's lasted up to an hour. It's really cute.
Anyway, it was a good time had by all. We really had a great time with family and friends. We feel so blessed to have such a great family and to be able to be so close to them all.

Long Time, Eh?
Warning: many pictures and a long, long post below!
Some of the things that happened in the past few weeks:
We went to Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' cabin. Unfortunately, Robbie had to work the next day, so he headed back up to Logan the next afternoon.
Saturday morning, Robbie met us down at the Sandy Expo Center for the Festival of Trees Set-Up day helping to get the skeleton of the Festival put together. Afterward, we headed down to Temple Square to see the lights. Unfortunately, we only saw them for a few minutes. They turn them off at ten (pictures below).
Sunday was fairly uneventful except for a good time at church, and Monday was Tree Decorating Day at the Expo Center.
Monday night, Dax started crying out of nowhere (very unusual for him), and his voice was extremely hoarse. It stayed that way all night and into the next morning, and included some heightened fussiness, so I took him to the Instacare and had to bail on my promise to Talya to watch her kids (the doctor told me it was croup, but I don't buy it...I think it was just a cold of sorts). I also had to back out on Festival of Trees Opening Night, where I had been supposed to be an auction host. Thankfully, Dax recovered well and is doing great.
I spent pretty much every hour of the next few days down at Festival doing Talya and my mom's bidding. The exception was Wednesday, when I got to see Robbie for a few hours in Kaysville, then came back down to Festival with Robbie's family. It was a lot of fun to hang out with them. I truly married into the right family! The whole week long, Dax was a little champ. He stole everyones' heart and made grande amounts of friends.
Saturday, we took down trees, and Sunday, we helped Talya and Ryan deliver them.
Monday, we had a Christmas dinner at the Lion House with the Simonsen adults, and Tuesday, after a doctor appointment, finally headed back to Logan. Twelve days away from home, and most of that without Robbie. He's so wonderful for putting up with me for so long.
I'm not exactly sure why I love pictures of the two of them sleeping, but I really, really do. Especially when Dax's little bum is sticking up in the air.
I'm not sure if Robbie is brushing Dax's teeth, or if Dax is teething on Robbie's finger. Let's be honest: they are both viable options. Either way, the kid is freaking cute.
He loves his wubbanub. He snuggles with it all the time.
Whenever Robbie changes Dax's diaper, he pulls his (Dax's) pants off, puts them on his head, and says, "Pant head! Pant head!" He also usually forgets to put them back on the child when he's done. Oh, I love my husband!
This is Robbie taking a picture of Christmas lights while he is walking.
I'm not sure why I'm posting this picture.
A sure sign that whatever we are doing is ending soon.
This picture speaks for itself.
This is one of only a couple of pictures we have together since Dax's birth.

Our little caterpillar sleeps very well when he's swaddled. He really does look like a caterpillar this way.
These are some of the pictures I took with my new phone. Thank heavens for the New Every Two plan from Verizon (you're welcome for the plug!). It's nice to have a new one. I think that Robbie is even more jealous than he lets on. Either way, he'll get a new one soon anyway, so I don't think he can be all that angry...
It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks, and I think the picture above sums it all up: we wore the poor guy right out! Even with everything I put him through, he was such a champ. He was SO good all day long (every day), and even still did better than most kids his age at night, though it wasn't quite as restful as he usually is (he's basically slept through the night since he was less than a week old--it's ok to be jealous).
This one below is a classic "Dax-face." I love it. He is so observant and curious. He is always looking around, and often plays a little game I like to call, "look at everything except for the person trying to get your attention." Hopefully it wears off before he hits his teens.
Look how cute my two boys are. I love them! Robbie is completely wrapped around Dax's little finger. He is such a good daddy, and is enamored by his little son. It's been so fun to see Dax's personality start to come through and the way Robbie reacts to the new things he learns every day. I am the luckiest girl in the world!

Christmas is Coming! Christmas is Coming!
Admittedly, I've had the song Must Be Santa stuck in my head far longer and far more times than I'd like to acknowledge in the past few weeks, but the truth is, I'm so excited for the Christmas season! For those of you that know my family, you know that Christmas time=Festival of Trees, and it's almost here!
Festival is an event that raises money for Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, to provide medical services to those who are unable to pay for the expensive life-saving treatments for their children. Every tree/gift shop item/treat/wreath/gingerbread house/minute of entertainment/host(ess)ing service/everything else is donated, and every single penny goes to the needy kids at Primary's. Last year, $1.6 million was raised! Truly one of the better charities out there. It makes a fabulous date, way to pass the time, YM/YW activity, you name it. So let's face it: there's really no excuse for you not to go.
Here's the scoop:
December 3-6 (next Wednesday through Saturday)
10am-10pm
Sandy Expo Center
(roughly 9400 South State Street in Sandy)
$4 adults (12 and older) $3 kids (ages 2-11) at the door
I have discount tickets for $3.50 and $2.50 and Zion's bank has them as well
COME!!!
