Some of the things that happened in the past few weeks:
We went to Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' cabin. Unfortunately, Robbie had to work the next day, so he headed back up to Logan the next afternoon.
Saturday morning, Robbie met us down at the Sandy Expo Center for the Festival of Trees Set-Up day helping to get the skeleton of the Festival put together. Afterward, we headed down to Temple Square to see the lights. Unfortunately, we only saw them for a few minutes. They turn them off at ten (pictures below).
Sunday was fairly uneventful except for a good time at church, and Monday was Tree Decorating Day at the Expo Center.
Monday night, Dax started crying out of nowhere (very unusual for him), and his voice was extremely hoarse. It stayed that way all night and into the next morning, and included some heightened fussiness, so I took him to the Instacare and had to bail on my promise to Talya to watch her kids (the doctor told me it was croup, but I don't buy it...I think it was just a cold of sorts). I also had to back out on Festival of Trees Opening Night, where I had been supposed to be an auction host. Thankfully, Dax recovered well and is doing great.
I spent pretty much every hour of the next few days down at Festival doing Talya and my mom's bidding. The exception was Wednesday, when I got to see Robbie for a few hours in Kaysville, then came back down to Festival with Robbie's family. It was a lot of fun to hang out with them. I truly married into the right family! The whole week long, Dax was a little champ. He stole everyones' heart and made grande amounts of friends.
Saturday, we took down trees, and Sunday, we helped Talya and Ryan deliver them.
Monday, we had a Christmas dinner at the Lion House with the Simonsen adults, and Tuesday, after a doctor appointment, finally headed back to Logan. Twelve days away from home, and most of that without Robbie. He's so wonderful for putting up with me for so long.
I'm not exactly sure why I love pictures of the two of them sleeping, but I really, really do. Especially when Dax's little bum is sticking up in the air.
It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks, and I think the picture above sums it all up: we wore the poor guy right out! Even with everything I put him through, he was such a champ. He was SO good all day long (every day), and even still did better than most kids his age at night, though it wasn't quite as restful as he usually is (he's basically slept through the night since he was less than a week old--it's ok to be jealous).
This one below is a classic "Dax-face." I love it. He is so observant and curious. He is always looking around, and often plays a little game I like to call, "look at everything except for the person trying to get your attention." Hopefully it wears off before he hits his teens.
Look how cute my two boys are. I love them! Robbie is completely wrapped around Dax's little finger. He is such a good daddy, and is enamored by his little son. It's been so fun to see Dax's personality start to come through and the way Robbie reacts to the new things he learns every day. I am the luckiest girl in the world!
