Like many of you, I am sick and tired of hearing about the upcoming election. I'm sick of the emails, I'm sick of the discussions, I'm sick of the campaign signs and ads. I can not wait for it to all be over. The thing that makes me more sick, however, are the huge consequences of our upcoming election/vote. There are many issues involved with the elections (not just presidential) that are threatening to create huge shock waves in the material of our society. I hope and pray that we do not take this election lightly.
Thankfully, we have all been given agency, as well as the wonderful freedom of speech and ability to vote. I hope that each of us are prayerfully considering each candidate and proposition and voting in the way we feel will help God's work to move forward more effectively. That's the whole point of this Earth-life, after all. I am grateful for the loving guidance of a Father in Heaven who has given us not only our agency and the Holy Spirit, but the wisdom and understanding of a living prophet of God on this earth.
And then there's this:
It's not as if this means that members of the church hate people that are homosexual. In fact, quite the opposite. There are many people I know and love that have chosen this lifestyle. The point remains: God's word is truth. Just because we may love another person that chooses to live such a lifestyle does not mean we should condone it. It truly makes me sad that there are people who claim to have a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ that so deeply misunderstand the plan of salvation.
Sometimes it's difficult to remember that it doesn't take much for Satan's work to be successful. I think it goes without saying that doing something simple like voting or spreading the word can help the Lord's work to prevail. Easy enough, yet not nearly enough of us do it. I hope that amongst all my weaknesses, not doing enough will not be listed with them.

We have a family party on the 25th :( Sorry
Yay! I'm updating right now...just for you! :o) but yes the 25th! Lets plan something fun so we all can get together :o) sounds awesome!!
I agree! I'm glad you posted this. I hadn't heard that the church had done the broadcast. I am so out of the loop on this side of the world.
amen sista
AAAAAmen. I am so sick of all the politics and knowing that what I think means nothing. I have stopped watching everything and all I CAN do is vote and like you said be grateful for it.
I'll have to see about the 25th... I'll let you know.
I'm so glad you posted about this. I agree with everything you said - and I think everyone really should prayerfully consider our options for the next president.
I also have many friends who have chosen this lifestyle. I don't understand it, but I don't try to. I don't condone it, and though those people know I care for them, they also know I do not support the decisions they make. it's a very sensitive issue and though it should be treated carefully, it should not be taken lightly. God wants his children to obtain all he has and that cannot happen with some of the choices others have made.
Anyway, It's sad to say, but I'm not sure it won't get worse before it gets any better. The 2nd coming has to come sometime, right?
Hello.. This is an interview between President Gordon B. Hinckley and Larry King from CNN. Here is the rest of the interview: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0412/26/lkl.01.html
KING: Do you ever get involved in politics?
HINCKLEY: No. Not since I was a very young man and I was a - went to the state convention as a delegate.
KING: You did.
HINCKLEY: Yes.
KING: Republican.
HINCKLEY: Yes, I was.
KING: I had that feeling.
HINCKLEY: But I have not - I voted for men and not for party. The Church doesn't become involved in politics.
KING: You've voted for people in both parties, then.
HINCKLEY: Yes, sir.
So I am sorry...Did we decide the 25th together? My sisters all go to witches night out that. So that is lame of me if I chose that night.
...I'm not entirely sure of the purpose of that last comment. Not only do I not know who it is...there is nothing in that post that says anything other than that the moral fabric of our society is being very threatened. I feel absolutely no need to defend it. Questions? Watch the videos again.
The 25th sounds good. We should be able to come.
Thank you so much for the comment you left on our blog. That is such a sweet thing to say and I really appreciate it so much!
