After weeks and weeks of deliberation, I have finally decided to wean Dax from breastmilk. I really feel/felt strongly about breastfeeding my baby, and am glad that I have made it this far, but it has become so difficult in so many ways.
I am grateful that I never had any latching/supply issues, and Dax always seemed to thrive on it (I mean, check out the pictures, for heaven's sake! That kid's a block!), but it has become so wearing on me that it has started to make me angry whenever he's hungry. I don't like that at all.
I don't feel that my baby should have an angry mother whenever he has a basic need that should be met...and that's it in a nutshell.
I am still working on losing my supply (not all that rad, btw), and truly hope that it happens quickly, because it is uncomfortable! But we have been feeding him formula for about two days now, and he has not had a single issue. I am so grateful for a baby that is so flexible! He is the best little man a mommy could have, and he's all mine!
I'd love to hear any thoughts or comments anyone has regarding this (so long as no one tells me I am a bad mother...I don't really need that at all, it was a big enough struggle to come to this decision anyway), so please comment!
Also, if anyone out there has any formula that they won't use that they are willing to share, I'd love to take it off your hands!

I don't think you're a bad mother at all! I think it's awesome you committed to nursing him for so long at that you were able to do it. But, you're right- it's more important for him to have a happy mother that can tend to his needs than anything else. As long as your baby is fat and happy that is all that matters, no matter where his food comes from! :)
Hey Carly! Of course you are not a bad mother! You are such a cute mom! How are you guys? We miss ya! Hope all is well!
I got to the same point with Johnny. The problem is....he wouldn't stop. He wouldn't take a bottle forever! It was so hard. I'm definitely going to do both from the beginning with the new baby so that when I'm ready to wean him it doesn't take 3 months.
Good for you. I formula feed my babies for it sounds like almost the same reason. I love my babies and think breasfeeding is GREAT. But in the end do what is best for BOTH of you!
I agree with all the comments above. Having breast fed him for this long is a great accomplishment. Unfortunately, there is this dang "mom guilt" that we all succomb to. Happy mom, happy baby. No matter where the food is coming from!
Hey next time you go to your dr. ask for some samples of formula, they should have some we always have formula(maybe not a lot but some)
Of course you're not a bad mom! You're an awesome mom!!! I wasn't able to breast feed either of my babies (for reasons I won't make your fellow bloggers read about), and I always felt guilty about it. However, both my kids are healthy and strong, so formula apparently does the job too! (: btw--my pediatrician recommends to buy generic formula because it has all of the basic nutrients of the expensive stuff at less than 1/2 the price. I always bought the Walmart brand with the DHA/ARA.
Seriously, you have to be kind to yourself. It is hard because we all want to be the perfect mom, but I would reiterate what has been said: You have to do what works for you and your family. No one else knows better than you what that is. I have been breastfeeding Gemma, but we use formula on occasion as backup and sometime it is so nice not to sit and pump for 15 minutes before work. You have to feel like a human being and not always just a mommy.
